START PLANNING
In Kenya, June ushers in the start of the dry season, revealing crisp air, clear skies, and landscapes transformed by the departing long rains. Daytime temperatures typically range from 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F), creating ideal conditions for both safari adventures and time outdoors. Wildlife viewing intensifies as animals gather around water sources, and the Maasai Mara begins to stir in anticipation of the Great Migration’s arrival. With comfortable weather, fewer crowds, and beautifully refreshed scenery, June offers a serene, cinematic side of Kenya, perfect for game drives, scenic flights, and soaking in the quiet beauty of the bush.
Private Transfer
Upon arrival at the airstrip you’ll be transferred via private vehicle to your camp.

Mara Plains Camp is a one-of-a-kind camp located in the private 13,300-hectare Olare Motorogi Conservancy, just on the Maasai Mara National Reserve’s northern boundary. This intimate camp, one of Kenya’s only three Relais & Chateaux properties (other being sister properties ol Donyo Lodge and Mara Nyika Camp), blends the finest in wildlife viewing with the best of safari hospitality and guiding. No other Maasai Mara based camp offers the extensive traversing area of Mara Plains Camp, with access to a total of 40,000 hectares of private conservancy land and the world-renowned Maasai Mara, home to the Great Migration.

Each guest at Mara Plains Camp contributes considerably to the success of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy’s flourishing ecosystem; conservation fees paid to safeguard this habitat while supporting over 1,000 Maasai families. This partnership agreement ensures the survival of an astounding volume and variety of wildlife.
Olare Motorogi Conservancy is reputed to have the lowest vehicle density in the Maasai Mara region, while also having the highest concentration of big cats anywhere in Africa. There is only one guest bed per 350 acres, leaving the land unadulterated for the wildlife to roam and thrive, as nature intended.

Lift off at dawn for one of Kenya’s most iconic experiences. Drift silently above the Maasai Mara as the first light spreads across the plains, revealing herds of wildlife moving through the golden grasslands. From this breathtaking vantage point, watch elephants, giraffes, and antelope from above, and trace the winding Mara River as the reserve awakens below you. The flight concludes with a celebratory bush breakfast set in the heart of the savannah—an unforgettable finale to a truly magical morning.
