Day 1: Welcome to France!

Private Transfer

Today, arrive in Paris and you’ll be transferred to your hotel via private vehicle.

Paris

“The chief danger about Paris,” wrote T.S.Eliot, “is that it is such a strong stimulant.” The City of Light can become addictive. Is it at all surprising that there are so many other “Parises” around the planet? Just pick a continent or a part of a landmass and you’ll find another city nicknamed “the Paris of the east,” “the Paris of South America,” even “the Paris of the prairies.” You get the idea.

And yet, there’s only one Paris. Despite the effort, it cannot be emulated. In fact, there may be more recognizable iconography in the French capital than anywhere else on the globe: the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Seine River, the Musée du Louvre, Sacré-Coeur, Montmatre, the wide Hausmannian boulevards, baguette-carrying Parisians, and just about any art-nouveau sidewalk bistro in the entire city. These are but a few.

Whatever your interest is, Paris has a superlative selection: from world-class art museums to Michelin-starred restaurants to designer boutiques to awe-inspiring architecture to glorious gardens. But one need not get specific when it comes to Paris. The city was made for the flâneur, someone who just strolls aimlessly, taking in the aesthetic, singular beauty of the city while watching its inhabitants enjoy life. It is, indeed, a strong stimulant.

Day 3: Palace of Versailles

Château de Versailles

Meet your driver and your guide at your hotel to depart for the dazzling Château de Versailles (approx. 45 minutes to 1 hour drive), for a private visit of this historical and architectural jewel.

The Palace was built by the great Sun King, Louis XIV, to accommodate over 2,000 members of the Royal Court and most of all to embody the glory of his reign.

Your guide will first take you to see the French gardens and fountains. A sumptuous setting of greenery for the palace of the Sun King: that’s how we might describe the magnificent gardens designed by Le Nôtre around the Château de Versailles.. Veritable salons of greenery that can be discovered at the bend of an avenue, the bosquets were designed to provide the setting for royal festivities.

You will then continue your visit with public areas of the State Apartments and Hall of Mirrors. This prestigious series of seven rooms were parade apartment, used for hosting the sovereign’s official acts. For this reason, it was bedecked with lavish Italian-style decoration, much admired by the king at the time, composed of marble panelling and painted ceilings. During the day, the State Apartment was open to all who wished to see the king and the royal family passing through on their way to the chapel. During the reign of Louis XIV, evening gatherings were held here several times a week.
