Game of Thrones helped to put Croatia on the tourist map, but savvy travelers have been visiting this Balkan gem for years. Zagreb’s museums and restaurants rival those in Paris or London, but the underlying spirit of the capital city is a refreshing change from its Western European neighbors. Outside of the city, Croatia is one of the most biodiverse countries in Europe. Take your pick from limestone caverns, technicolor lakes, and the paradisal Adriatic islands.
START PLANNING
July brings glorious summer weather to much of Croatia. Expect warm to hot daytime temperatures ranging from 75°F to 95°F in many popular destinations, with refreshing evenings dropping to 60°F-75°F. While Mediterranean regions enjoy dry, sunny conditions perfect for beaches and sightseeing, tropical destinations may experience their rainy season with brief, intense afternoon showers. The extended daylight hours (up to 16+ hours in northern locations) maximize sightseeing opportunities, though popular attractions will be at peak capacity. Pack light clothing, sun protection, and a light layer for evenings or air-conditioned spaces to fully embrace this vibrant travel season.

Your private English-speaking driver will greet you at Piazzale Roma NCC and transport you to Bale and your hotel – Meneghetti Wine. Your driver will be holding a sign with your name on it.
On the first day of your trip, take your time to settle into your accommodation and enjoy the luxurious amenities of your hotel.

In search of unique places, sometimes you need to get off the main roads. One of these led us to Bale, Istria. The road slows down and gets narrower with every mile, as nature draws closer. Here you will slow down, take a breath ,and realize that the magic actually appears off the beaten path.
Besides Meneghetti’s own Relais & Chateaux restaurant, below are some restaurant recommendations in Bale (a 15-minute taxi ride from your hotel), should you wish to dine off-property.

A proud member of Virtuoso and Relais & Châteaux, Meneghetti is set amidst vineyards and olive groves of Istria’s inland. Sophisticated rooms, residences, and villas combine deluxe amenities with Mediterranean and rustic style. With a top-notch restaurant, attentive service and relaxing spa center, Meneghetti is a celebration of hedonism and well-being.

After a private transfer to Istrian inland, meet your active guide for a private biking tour on Parenzana route. Parenzana was originally a railway line that connected Trieste (Italy), Koper (Slovenia) and Porec (Croatia) and passed through much of the Istrian lush interior. The railway gradually became obsolete and completely overgrown and has now been reinvented as an attractive hiking and biking trail. Begin the bike tour at picturesque hilltop stunner of Groznjan down to Livade village (approximately 15 miles), in an area popular not only for walking and cycling, but also for hunting and caving. Enjoy scenic roads and views of Istria’s charming towns and hilltop villages as you ride on one of the most famous biking trails in Croatia.
Afterwards, relax as you transfer back to your hotel. After your bike tour, you may wish to indulge in a bit of R&R back at the hotel. Feel free to hang out at your residence pool or head to the Menegetti Beach Club!

The new & reimagined Meneghetti Beach Club offers a refined haven where sun-drenched relaxation meets the finest gourmet indulgence and impeccably crafted drinks. With its elegant ambiance and seamless blend of luxury and coastal charm, it’s poised to redefine seaside sophistication.
